Education-first.
Art-always.

Madeline Rose Kirschner was born and brought up in St. Louis, Missouri. She developed an early interest in fine art and education through traveling, going to museums, and learning about different cultures. She studied art at The Oxbow School in Napa, California, for her early education.

She went on to earn a BA from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, where Madeline focused on Studio Art and Business Administration. Madeline moved to Denver, Colorado upon the completion of her undergraduate degree where she began exploring embroidery.

When the 2019 Covid pandemic hit, Madeline stepped away from her job at a Boulder-based artist's studio and gallery. She began working in the education field and soon fell in love with teaching. She graduated from the University of Denver in 2023 as a licensed teacher with a master's degree in elementary education. Madeline moved from Denver back to St. Louis to begin her teaching career and find other ways to grow creatively.

Madeline's work draws inspiration from nature surrounding her, personal and societal struggles, and the emotion that comes from the creative process. Madeline works primarily in textiles, small-scale printmaking, and digital media. In addition to 2-D art, she works with clay, industrial components, and found objects to create three-dimensional sculptures. Madeline makes art as a way to express and understand herself.
